Fitting Room Shazaming
Ever go into a fitting room, and as you're getting the clothes on, the store is playing really good music, so as you've got the pants half way on, you run to your phone to shazam (my favorite app in the world) the music? Meanwhile, the salesperson is at the door asking, "is everything working out fine?" when they're really wondering, "how long does it take to try on a pair of pants, idiot?" No? Never do that? Well, luckily I have this borderlining unhealthy obsession with music, because it helped me find the group called The Presets. They're not bad, and there are some pretty great remixes of their music out there (one of which I am posting below).
Enjoy!

Going Deeper Underground (Da Bush Babees)
Da Bush Babees are an underground hip-hop group from the 90's. Why they were ignored by mainstream, I don't quite understand. Just for fun, check out the price of this album, USED, (cover art to the right) called "Ambushed" on Amazon.com (click here to view album on Amazon). Anyway, there are quite a few of their songs that I love, so I'll share a several of them with you.
Enjoy!

"Remember We" - Salaam Remi Remix
You know, you really should know this. . .
And if you don't, well, now you will -
There are many things in this paragraph that, in a perfect world, everybody should know. One of these things being the genius of Leonard Cohen, the other, his song Hallelujah and how it had a love affair with artist Jeff Buckley. Lucky for me, I have known about these things for quite some time, but have found that many people I have met and know HAVE NOT ::DUN DUN DUN::. This is not a request or suggestion. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU LISTEN TO THIS POST.

Loops' Mix C.D.
Once upon a time, I walked into my bedroom in an apartment in Florence, Italy and found a surprise mix C.D. resting on my pillow. . . I know. Best story, ever. Well, though the entire C.D. was incredible (special thanks to my buddy Loops and her exceptional taste in music), there were a few songs that really caught my attention. So, here they are:
The more folk-ish, acoustic-type songs were:
State Radio - "Keepsake"
Iron & Wine - "Love Vigilantes"
Jenny Owen Youngs - "Fuck Was I"
Some other great (more upbeat) songs in the mix were:
Yeasayer - "Ambling Alp"
Ok Go - "Louisiana Land"
Death Cab for Cutie - "Cath" (which is not so upbeat)
Enjoy!

Phantogram
I'm beginning to notice, a lot of these bands comprised of only two artists really know how to get the job done, and how. You've got The White Stripes, The Black Keys (one of my favorite bands), The Chemical Brothers, _______________<----- (Enter another amazing duo here), and so many more. . . And among those "so many more" is this duo called Phantogram, made up of keyboardist Sarah Barthel and guitarist Josh Carter. The first place I had heard Phantogram was a while ago in my car (my favorite place to listen to music), on 89.9 fm KCRW (yes, I know this blog is called "The Anti Radio", but I don't completely disdain the things they play on the radio, just most of it), thus the mind blowing had begun. The first song I ever heard by them was "As Far As I Can See", which has SUCH an awesome beat, rhythm, and melody. As I delved deeper into the world of Phantogram, I found a deep, grimy (not borderlining dubstep, but grimy) high octave bass that took my ears, stomped on them, handed them back to me, and had me begging for more. So, on that note, I present to you "As Far As I Can See" and "Running From The Cops":

This is actually a band that I can honestly say that I love most all of their music, so check the rest out if you get a chance, and also, check out their live performances:
Hi.
I don't know why, but for some reason I have to fight the urge to open this first post with an awkward, "Soooo. . . welcome to my blog. . ." Anyway, speaking of awkward, ever hear this cover by Damien Rice of "Creep" by Radiohead? The original is amazing as is, and I'm by no means trying to replace it, but it's nice to hear a song from another musician's perspective every now and again. Personally, I love this cover, hope you do too :).
